Historically, to achieve a similar outcome, teams have used VMs (virtual machines). This means that the same code will run regardless of where it is physically because Docker provides a constant environment across machines in which to run code. It is so popular because it offers coherence between the respective development and production environments for a given project. Why Docker: Docker has emerged as the dominant containerization solution in the software world. Now, teams that focus on dev for iOS and macOS have access to this powerful tech. We understand that most native iOS and macOS developers have likely not had much exposure to these powerful tools, as they have historically not been able to run on Mac. I would much rather be able to Stop Kubernetes and Uninstall Kubernetes as separate concepts. I dont see why the installation of kube and the running state are tied together as a single concept. I want kube installed (and Im happy to have Docker be the ones to do it), but I dont necessarily need it running all the time. My comments were referring to the fact that existing installations of kubectl were broken.ĪFAICT, when we disable (Docker for Macs) kubectl, then the previously installed one is restored.
